Senior Staff Writer


Healio seeks an experienced, energetic senior staff writer for a leading medical newspaper and website. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong reporting background, impeccable writing skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced news environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Propose, develop, research and write high-quality, timely and accurate enterprising articles that require little to no substantive editing.
  • Conduct interviews with physicians, industry representatives, and other experts
  • Collaborate on various editorial projects
  • Develop and/or acquire artwork for articles
  • Maintain relationships with Editorial Board and KOLS
  • Natural leadership qualities , identifying strong story ideas and sources
  • Use writing experiences to pitch story ideas and following through with excellent enterprising articles with little supervision or direction
  • Write content based on assignments from Managing Editor/Executive Editor/Editorial Director and their own pitches
  • Assist in keeping up to date on the specialty and recognizing issues that should be addressed in these enterprising stories


  • Must have at least 5 years of writing experience (medical writing/editing experience preferred)
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or other related field
  • Must be able to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • This job requires travel, including some weekends

We are open to a remote employee. If local to our office in southern NJ, candidate should be able to telecommute on multiple days.
