Healio and CEDARS/ASPENS Partner to Launch Exclusive Mentorship Program for Outstanding Young Ophthalmic Surgeons

October 2, 2025

Thorofare, NJ – Healio and CEDARS/ASPENS, a leading society of anterior segment surgeons and educators, are proud to announce a new partnership to launch an exclusive mentorship program. This unique initiative is designed to empower a select group of promising young surgeons by providing them with the skills and industry connections needed to become key opinion leaders in ophthalmology.

“We are committed to nurturing the next generation of ophthalmologists,” said Richard L. Lindstrom, MD, Healio | OSN Chief Medical Editor and Adjunct Clinical Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota. “This collaboration between Healio | Ocular Surgery News and CEDARS/ASPENS is a direct reflection of our belief that these young physicians are the future of ophthalmology. By investing in their development now, we’re ensuring the continued advancement and innovation of the entire field.”

Participants will be invited to attend a private event held during the annual OSN New York meeting in November. The program will provide an introduction to both Healio | Ocular Surgery News and CEDARS/ASPENS. Attendees will enjoy robust workshops and discussions about KOL opportunities, skill sets and mid-career pathways in ophthalmology, followed by a networking session to help them build valuable relationships.

“This mentorship experience allows us to reach young surgeons who are hungry for guidance but don’t quite know where to look,” shared Gary Wortz, MD, Chair of the CEDARS/ASPENS Mentorship Program. “Collaborating with Healio | OSN during OSN New York will allow us to meet mentees right where they are: early in their careers and eager for connection.”

The mentorship program is part of Healio and CEDARS/ASPENS’ shared commitment to supporting educational and career development opportunities for young physicians. This initiative aims to provide them with the tools and guidance necessary to shape the future of ophthalmology.
