Journal of Nursing Education Announces Winner of the Christine A. Tanner Scholarly Writing Award

THOROFARE, NJ – SLACK Incorporated’s Journal of Nursing Education (JNE) is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s annual Christine A. Tanner Scholarly Writing Award.
The 2025 winners are Dianne Morrison-Beedy, PhD, RN, CGNC, FESNO, FFNMRCSI, FNAP, FAANP, FAAN, Irena Yashin-Shaw, PhD, and Michael Ackerman, PhD, RN, FCCM, FNAP, FAANP, FAAN, for their article, “A Framework for Supporting Intrapreneurialism in Nursing Academia,” which was published in the February 2025 issue of the Journal.

According to the JNE Award Judging Committee, “In this highly engaging article, the authors bring forward a guiding concept to support nurses, at all levels, in making active contributions to the development of healthcare responsivity and quality. This unique approach to promote creativity in the nursing curriculum is long overdue. By embracing the recommendations put forth by the authors, nurse educators are well-positioned to foster a culture of empowerment among undergraduate and graduate students, encouraging their active engagement in quality improvement initiatives.”
This award has been established by SLACK Incorporated, publisher of the Journal of Nursing Education, in recognition of the contributions of Christine A. Tanner, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF, who served as Editor of the Journal from 1991-2012 and is now Editor Emeritus. One of the most influential voices in the field, Dr. Tanner had, and continues to have, a profound impact on a generation of nurse educators through her work as a writer, teacher, researcher-scholar, and mentor and friend to faculty, students, and colleagues across the United States and around the world.
The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in writing and the impact of outstanding research or other scholarly works on advancing knowledge in the field of nursing education.
